Amateur Sports

Our Accident Medical Recovery Insurance responds to operations following accidents with the benefits matched to the recovery time of an operation.

Traditional protection for amateur sports is offered on a personal accident basis with coverage for accidental death and permanent disabilities. Temporary Total Disability can also be offered as an option.

Because Medical Recovery Insurance benefits are contingent upon a specific operation, premiums can be reduced and the coverage made simpler and easier to administer compared to TTD cover, which normally requires ongoing proof of inability to work.

Sports Accident : A Case Study

MediCheque was asked by an intermediary for a group of amateur sports players to review their coverage. Previously this had been offered on a traditional personal accident basis covering accidental death, permanent disability, loss of limb and loss of sight as well as well a benefit for medical expenses following an accident.

As there had not been any personal accident claims under this cover, the client was seeking broader cover that offered benefits that would be more relevant to the group.

Following a review of the benefits being provided, an adjustment to the personal accident section was made and the policy benefit structure was amended as follows:
